Deborah Kerr, Katie Reid and Dan Johnson were all in European Olympic Qualifier action in Szeged.
The paracanoe team also launched their World Championship campaign with some impressive performances on day two in Hungary.
Kerr (Anker Valley) finished sixth after a gutsy performance in the women's K1 500m final.
A strong second placed finish in her heat, followed by a photo-finish victory in the semi-finals set the Tokyo Olympian up for the final.
However it wasn’t to be for Kerr, as she battled amongst a stacked field to feature within the leading pack. Her time of 1:52.46 saw the Scottish athlete finish sixth overall, with a top two finish needed.
Very little separated the women's C1 200m final as Katie Reid (Forth) finished eighth overall.
A solid top three heats performance from Reid saw the Tokyo 2020 Olympian secure her spot in the final, but just over a second separated the top eight during the last race of the day, as she finished in a time of 47.45.
Dan Johnson (Chelmsford) missed out on a place in the men's K1 1000m final as he took on the European Olympic Qualifier.
Coming second in his heat in 3:36.12, Johnson lined up in the semi-finals needing a top three finish to progress to the afternoon final.
Sadly, the Chelmsford athlete missed out on the final finishing ninth.
Dave Phillipson kicked off the Paracanoe World Championships with an emphatic performance to see him qualify directly for tomorrow's men's KL2 final.
Racing in search of the British boat quota place for the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Phillipson won his heat and posted the quickest time of the round in 41.78 to skip the semi-finals.
Delighted with his race, Phillipson said:
“It was overall a great run. There were some fast competitors in that heat but I got off to a great start to hold them off.
“I'm buzzing with that performance out there. I never big myself enough, so I think I need to do that a bit more as I showed there I can do it. I did what I wanted to do out there and got the job done. Buzzing.
“My winter training has really paid off, so onto the final now. My plan is the same as the heat and I’ll see how I perform.”
Similar to Phillipson, Ed Clifton (Chelmsford) is also racing for Paralympic boat quota qualification in this men's VL2, alongside the World Championships.
It was a brilliant start from Clifton, who battled amongst a strong heat to finish third at his second World Championship event, and set himself for semi-final action tomorrow morning.
World Champions Hope Gordon and Charlotte Henshaw MBE both put in convincing performances in their respective women's VL3 heats.
With the event making its Paralympic debut in Paris this summer, the pair both won their heats in 55.38 and 55.87 to progress directly into tomorrow's final.
Tokyo Paralympic Champion Emma Wiggs MBE dominated her women's VL2 heat to progress directly into tomorrow's final.
A fantastic start out the bucket got the World Champion ahead to finish ahead of the pack in 56.35, whilst Jeanette Chippington OBE required the semi-final to join Wiggs in the final.
The Tokyo bronze medallist showed great power after finishing fourth in her heat, winning the semi-final by over four seconds to join her British teammate.
Tokyo Paralympic Champion Henshaw was back in KL2 action during the afternoon alongside Rio Champion Wiggs.
The pair again bypassed their semi-finals, with Henshaw storming her heat in 48.32, whilst Wiggs finished second in her heat in 50.100 to set up their places in Saturday morning's final.
Pleased with her season opener, Henshaw said:
“Getting back to the international start-line is always exciting and I'm pleased with how I've raced today.
“We've had windy conditions today which feels largely similar to Nottingham so that's set us up well.
“I've had a really busy programme today. It was really good practice for if I hopefully get named on the Games team for this summer.
“It's been a great opportunity to learn as well as see how the rest of the world has been getting on over the winter.”
World silver medallist Jack Eyers and Paralympic bronze medallist Stuart Wood wrapped up the action for the British team in the men’s VL3 heats.
Wood set the pace in his heat as he posted an impressive time of 48.02 to book his place in the semi-finals, whilst Eyers finished fourth in his heat despite a snapped seat early in his race to also secure his spot in the next round.
Speaking after the conclusion of the European Olympic Qualifiers, Chris Furber, Performance Director for Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe, said:
“We're disappointed to not get anyone on to TeamGB for Paris this summer. We knew it was going to be really tough. European qualifiers are always going to be the most fiercely contested event for second round spots.
“I think we've prepared the best we can for this and I think the athletes have given it everything they had, but on the day we've just come up short from where we need to be.
“It's commendable for athletes to be making A Finals at this standard, but we've got a way to go to be winning these races.
“We will go away from here and debrief everything we've done so far, but I'm pleased with the work we've done this winter.
“I think there's a lot of positives in there and progress around our understanding of what it takes to compete at this level.
“I'm really proud of the effort the athletes and the support staff have put in to get us to this point.
“But it is disappointing to come up short on this occasion.”
