Disciplinary, Dispute and Appeal Regulations
Unfortunately, unacceptable behaviour can occur within any sport. We are committed to ensuring that transparent procedures are in place to ensure that where such issues do arise, action is fair and carried out expeditiously and in a consistent manner.
The Disciplinary and Appeal Regulations provide a framework to enable disciplinary matters to be managed effectively within our organisation and are available below.

Whistleblowing Policy
This Policy provides a mechanism for serious concerns of wrongdoing or unethical conduct within the organisation to be reported.
It applies to all those who come into contact with our organisation including, but not limited to, employees, members, athletes, coaches, UKSI staff, volunteers, and consultants who may feel that they need to raise certain issues relating to the organisation with someone in confidence.

Anti-Bribery and Gift Policy
We are committed to conducting business in an ethical and honest manner as well as implementing and enforcing systems that ensure fraud, bribery and corruption are prevented.
This policy applies to all employees - whether temporary, fixed-term, or permanent - consultants, contractors, trainees, seconded staff, home workers, casual workers, agency staff, volunteers, interns, agents, sponsors, athletes, coaches or any other person or persons associated with our organisation, including third parties). The policy also applies to Officers, Trustees, Board, and/or Committee members at any level.

The following persons have been appointed to the Disciplinary and Appeal Panel following an open and transparent recruitment process. All members of the Panel, including the Chair, are volunteers who have significant skills and expertise. They will be called upon as and when required to aid us in disputes, disciplinary process, and appeals.

James Armstrong-Holmes
Chair
Barrister at Castle Gate Chambers, who is regularly instructed to prosecute and defend in serious and complex criminal matters. Disciplinary Panel Member for British Triathlon and the Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire Rugby Football Union.
Dr Harvey Anderson
A CIMSPA Chartered High-Performance Coach with over 30 years' experience in coaching, sport science, and strength and conditioning including being on of the most formally qualified cricket coaches in the country. He is also a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the Academy of Sport & Physical Activity and will utilise this experience and knowledge when considering Appeal and Disciplinary scenarios.
David Belbin
Chartered Accountant, active club canoeist, former member of BC Wild Water Racing committee and of the BC board for over 10 years.
Mark Blatchly
ex Deputy Headteacher and long standing coach, competitor and committee member at Nottingham Kayak Club with a wealth of experience a professional and club perspective.
Karl Cooke
Karl has many years' experience within the High Performance System, leading high performance teams and programmes in both the UK and Australia including the Lawn Tennis Association, British Swimming and Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS). Karl also developed the Canoeing program at the WAIS working closely with Paddle Australia to deliver World Championship medals in both Olympic & Paralympic events.
Kieran Dews
A former national Canoe Sprint Coach with experience coaching athletes from beginners to Senior World Championship. Coach to national champions and international representatives in Canoe Sprint, Marathon, and Wildwater. Professional & voluntary experience working in Canoeing in 3 different nations at club, regional, home nation, and national level.
Gavin Dingley
Barrister and Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. A public law and regulatory specialist with experience representing professionals before disciplinary tribunals and sporting bodies.
Judith Duffin
a practising solicitor-advocate specialising in regulatory and disciplinary law. She recently obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Law from De Montford University and was previously a keen amateur sportswomen including playing hockey at National League level. Judith also sits as a member of the RFU's Independent Judicial Panel.
Daniel Fox
Barrister at Essex Court Chambers, and a keen amateur paddler. Specialises in sports, commercial, employment, public, financial regulatory, and public international law. Regularly sits on disciplinary and other appeals panels for a range of sports.
Andy Grudzinski
Solicitor. Specialist construction lawyer with over 10 years' volunteer experience as a Canoe Slalom technical official and a member of the British Canoeing Slalom Committee.
Lisa Hardy
Accomplished barrister with 26 years' experience in criminal law. Known for acting at all times with integrity and fairness and has particular expertise in handling cases sensitively, and dealing with witnesses who are vulnerable either buy way of mental health issues, age or learning difficulties. Lisa is also recognised as being good at identifying the key issues, leading a team, reaching impartial decisions and explaining those decisions in a way that all parties involved appreciate whilst acting in a robust manner when necessary.
Jamie Johnson
Barrister specialising in commercial and property law. Formerly a personal trainer and a sports coach with over 20 years' experience.
Simon McCann
Barrister and Arbitrator. Sports, regulatory and insurance law specialist, with 23 years of experience in these sectors.
Steve Moule
Chelmsford Canoe Club Racing Coach and Welfare Lead, Metropolitan Police Officer.
Amanda Orchard
Senior marketing and communications specialist for over 20 years and sit on Cambridgeshire bench as a general crime magistrate.
Colin Radmore
Former Senior Paralympic Canoeing Coach, setting up the high performance centre in Nottingham and coaching athletes through the Rio and Tokyo Paralympic cycles, supporting the team to number 1 nation status for 11 consecutive years. Previously represented Great Britain as an athlete in Slalom, Wild Water Racing and White Water Rafting.
Mark Scott
Dispute Resolution Associate at Hansells Solicitors. A lawyer with over 25 years' experience specialising in contract, land and regulatory disputes. Holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Sports Law and Practice from De Montfort University
Glenn Smith
Former GB international Swimming Coach who coached athletes to 10x Paralympic Medals whilst being part of the GB Coaching staff at the 2010 Para World Championships, 2011 European Championships, 2012 Paralympics, and 2013 Para World Championships and a support Coach at the 2016 Paralympics. He remains involved in the sport as Chairman of Nova Centurion SC and a Coach Developer for Swim England East Midlands.
Siobhan Walsh
Legal Executive specialising in clinical negligence. A member of the Rugby Football Union Anti-Doping and later Judicial Panel since 2013.
Colin Woodgate
Long-standing paddler and competitor in national and international competition and events and now an international slalom judge and part of the British, ECA and ICF slalom committees.
Cathy Wynne BEM
A volunteer judge and event organiser in several sports as well as being a qualified national judge for swimming and Chief Official assisting organising the Canoe Sprint National Regattas since before 2014. An ICF qualified canoe sprint International Technical Official since 2001 who has officiated at numerous international events including ICF World Championships and Olympic Games. Cathy was also a member on the first occasion women formed a majority in a canoe competition committee, when working at the 2016 Rio Games as the Chief Judge at the Paralympics.
