An impressive run from Jonny Dickson saw him win kayak cross individual silver at the European Championships in Tacen, Slovenia.
Joe Clarke MBE and Nikita Setchell also secured spots in the head to head racing on the opening day of the 2024 international season.
It was a disrupted start to the competition for the British team out in Ljubljana to kick-start the 2024 international season, with the schedule changed this morning due to predicted weather conditions and rising river levels.
This meant the new Olympic discipline of kayak cross, which makes its Games debut this summer in Paris, was pushed forward to the start of the event.
The slalom competition will now take place on Saturday and Sunday.
Jonny Dickson (CR Cats) put down a fantastic performance to get his season underway, finishing second in the men's individual round to qualify for the head to head racing.
Jonny's impressive run also earned him a time-trial silver, with the European Championships presenting medals to the top three of each event in addition to the head to head racing tomorrow.
The 2023 U23 World Championship bronze medallist had a magnificent season last year, winning his first senior medal in Paris and securing multiple finals across the circuit.
His time of 50.16 was only bettered by Czechia paddler Vit Prindis.
Three-time World Champion and Paris 2024 bound Joe Clarke MBE too impressed in his first hit out of the season.
Selected to represent TeamGB in kayak cross at the Games this summer after winning the world title in front of a home crowd last summer, Clarke finished fourth overall in 50.91, half a second shy of his British teammate.
Ben Haylett (Holme Pierrepont) was the third Brit in action in the men's event, but sadly picked up faults on gates 2 & 6, which knocked him out the running for head to head.
Nikita Setchell (Holme Pierrepont) secured a top five finish as she confirmed her spot for tomorrow morning's women's kayak cross head to head racing.
U23 World Champion in 2021 and 2022, Setchell put down a great time of 58.97 on the Ljubljana course to progress through, just under two seconds off making the medals.
Unfortunately Paris bound Olympians Kimberley Woods (Rugby) and Mallory Franklin (Windsor & District) couldn't join Nikita to the latter stages this week.
With only the top 16 progressing, Woods finished 20th and just half a second off qualification, whilst Franklin placed 24th in a time 62.41.
The pair will now turn their attention to the canoe slalom from Saturday, as they both have canoe and kayak to focus on as well as the team events.
