Jonny Dickson enjoyed a fine breakthrough in 2023, making a huge impact on the international circuit after qualifying for the British senior team for the first time.
He made his first senior final at the Prague World Cup, placing sixth in the men’s K1, and then went on to repeat the feat at the World Championship on home waters at Lee Valley, finishing ninth.
Dickson concluded an impressive 2023 season with a first senior medal at the World Cup Final in Paris, where an incredible run saw him claim silver on the Olympic course.
His senior breakthrough has been built upon fine form on the under-23 international circuit. Amidst his senior successes in 2023, he won kayak cross bronze at the World Under-23 Championships in Krakow.
At the 2021 World Under-23 Championships Dickson won K1 silver before claiming bronze a year later. Much like his senior success, Dickson's under-23 achievements followed a strong junior career.
At the World Junior Championships in 2019, he won kayak team gold alongside Etienne Chappell and Ben Haylett.
