Zoe Clark and Kristina Armstrong finished eighth in their K2 500m A Final, while Armstrong also secured an individual A Final on day four of the ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Winning his 1000m B Final, Tom Lambert will also contest the 500m A Final tomorrow as the team heads into the final day of racing.
Sprint Performance Academy athletes, Clark (Royal) and Armstrong (Scottish Performance Squad), have enjoyed a successful season so far, which saw them claim gold at the U23 European Championships, and compete as a duo at the senior sprint World Cup in Poznan earlier in the summer.
The pair lined up this morning as 2024 European Champions against a stacked line-up of crews.
Two seconds separated all nine crews at the halfway stage of the K2 500m A Final with the Brits in seventh at that stage. Unfortunately, the duo could quite make up the ground on the field in front of them as they finished in 1:48.130.
Also an individual U23 European Champion, Armstrong hit the water once again for the K1 500m and delivered a trademark performance to confirm her place in tomorrow's A Final.
Sitting in fourth place at the halfway stage, Armstrong tackled the semi-final like she did her European final earlier in the season, putting down the power to climb her way through the field and get into second place in a time of 2:02.257, needing a top three finish to qualify.
There was an emphatic 1000m B Final victory for Tom Lambert (Lincoln) in the U23 men's C1.
Getting a great start to take an early lead, Lambert looked strong in his approach, whilst holding off a late charge from Italian Samuele Veglianti to win the B Final by nearly two seconds in 4:01.528.
Lambert returned for his 500m semi-final in the afternoon and further impressed on day four as he qualified for his first U23 World Championship A Final
The Lincoln paddler, who enjoyed World Cup experience in the event in May, sat in fifth at the 250m, before an emphatic finish propelled him into the top three to qualify for the A Final.
Devizes' Philippe Ehrnrooth rounded off his World Championships with second place in the C Final of the junior men's K1 500m.
In his first junior Worlds, Ehrnrooth put down his best time of the week as he finished in 1:45.677, a second off top spot.
Nelson Kinzler (Richmond) and Huw Singleton (Nottingham) placed third in their C Final. Half a second off top spot at the halfway stage, the junior K2M 500m duo kept up the pace to fight off the Australian crew and claim a top-three finish in 1:36.568.
Toby Bullock (Exeter) earned himself a place in the junior men's K1 1000m B Final during the afternoon session in Bulgaria.
It was a solid run from Bullock as he put down a 3:57.683 to finish sixth and claim his first World Individual B Final.
Phil Miles (Royal Leamington Spa) will also race the 1000m B Final after coming fifth in his U23 K1 semi-final.
Miles looked to close the gap in the final moments for a top-three spot to qualify for the A Final, but his time of 3:51.769 was a second off.
After finishing seventh in the 1000m yesterday, Annabel Hutchinson (Reading) will race the K1 500m C Final tomorrow.
The junior athlete finished ninth in her semi-final in 2:07.757.
