British Canoeing has been made aware of a product recall for a children's buoyancy aid presenting a high risk of drowning due to not meeting essential safety requirements that demonstrate that the product will perform when required.
The model being recalled is the Swimbubs Float Jacket Buoyancy Aid. Four designs of the children's buoyancy aid are being recalled.
The product does not meet the requirements of the PPE Regulation 2016/425.

The products are classed as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The products were not supplied with the required compliance documentation, user instructions or markings to demonstrate that they had been adequately conformity assessed. Mandatory third-party conformity assessment by a body authorised for PPE is required by the relevant Regulations for those products which protect against more serious risks, the absence of such independent assessment for such a product may increase the risk to the consumer that the product may not perform as expected when relied upon to protect them from harm in the water.
