Paddle UK condemns the recent acts of racism, violence and disorder that have targeted people of colour, Muslim and migrant communities that have occurred across the country.
We are against hate and discrimination in all forms and we extend our thoughts to those affected. Recent events that divide are totally contrary to our values as an organisation.
Paddle UK champions diversity, tolerance and allyship. We are committed to being an open, inclusive sport that recognises and values paddlers that come from all backgrounds, so that they feel more welcome within the paddling community.
They are valued members, coaches, volunteers and paddlers, who make our sport and activities more vibrant, welcoming and enjoyable places for all to paddle.
We encourage our community to connect with their fellow paddlers who have been affected and show their allyship to them and their communities.
For anyone directly affected by the unrest, you can report crimes to Stop Hate and Tell MAMA, and organisations like MIND, Samaritans and Shout can provide mental health support.
In allyship and support, #WePaddleTogether.
