Tom Lambert, Kristina Armstrong and Zoe Clark all secured A Final places on the opening day of the canoe sprint junior and U23 European Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.
A large team of Brits were in action on day one of the competition, with a number of the team also progressing to semi-finals taking place tomorrow and Saturday.
An impressive display from Lincoln's Lambert secured the first British A Final of the week after finishing second in his U23 C1M 1000m heat.
The 22-year-old, who has senior experience from the World Cup in Poznan last month, dominated his heat alongside Spain's Daniel Grijalba to take a top three finish in 4:04.658 and bypass tomorrow's semi-final.
Delighted with how he raced, Lambert said:
“I'm really happy with the result. It takes the pressure off a semi-final and overall I'm happy to make it straight through to the A Final.
“Poznan has set me up quite well. It was nice to be competitive at a senior competition, hopefully meaning I can be more competitive here at the U23 Euros.
“Skipping the semi-finals and feeling fresher for the final will hopefully play to my advantage. I'm not used to this scenario, so it's a great feeling.
“I'm excited to see how I get on. I proved I can be right up there in the heats so hopefully I can build on that on Saturday.”
Forming a strong partnership during the 2024 season, Kristina Armstrong (Scottish Performance Squad) and Zoe Clark (Royal) combined once again to produce a nail-biting display in the U23 K2 women's 500m.
The duo went head to head against four other international crews, with only the top three skipping the semi-finals to line up in the A Final on Sunday afternoon.
With less than a second between the top five, Armstrong and Clark posted a time of 1:42.666, securing a fantastic second place finish and just 0.087 off the top spot.
Both U23s also had individual events on the first day.
Clark was in K1 1000m action as she progressed through to tomorrow's semi-finals in second place, posting 4:17.074.
Armstrong, meanwhile, battled the K1W 500m, also securing her semi-final berth in third place, finishing in 1:56.248 and two seconds off top spot.
Joe Enoch (Nottingham) and Toby Bullock (Exeter) combined internationally for the first time as they progressed to the junior K2 men's 1000m semi-final in seventh place, clocking 3:34.379.
The same result was achieved by Dom Stanley (Nottingham) and Gabriel Popham-Coveley (Nottingham), who progressed to the U23 semi-final tomorrow in 3:33.168.
There was a great battle from Annabel Hutchinson (Reading) in the K1 junior 500m heats, as she finished fourth to book her spot in the semi-finals tomorrow.
She then jumped into the K2 with Mollie Ball (Devizes) just hours later to take on the junior 500m heats as the pair put down a 1:55.280 to progress to the next stage.
Phil Miles (Royal Leamington Spa) will contest tomorrow's U23 K1M 1000m semi-finals, after finishing sixth in his heat in a time of 3:45.858.
He will also be in semi-final action with Benji Cabrera (Fowey) on Saturday, as the duo raced the U23 K2M 500m heats, finishing fifth in 1:35.364.
A semi-final place also beacons for Xavier Hinves (Southampton) as he finished fifth in the U23 K1 men's 500m heats in 1:44.640.
Contesting in two heats on the opening day of competition, Philippe Ehrnrooth (Devizes) booked his spot in semi-finals of the junior K1M 500m, a time of 1:48.042 saw him finish seventh to progress.
Ehrnrooth also kicked off the day for Britain in the 1000m, but sadly his eighth place finish saw him miss out on the next stage.
There was a seventh place finish for Dianora De Bilio (Royal), Francesca Scrivener (Falcon), Charlotte Fulford-Perez (Reading) and Kamila Sklenarova (Norwich) in the K4W junior 500m heats, clocking 1:44.902 to go into the semi-finals.
Andre Hinves (Southampton), Freddie Heard (Exeter), Olivier Mazur (Reading) and Nathaniel Lamb (Southampton) also finished seventh in the junior men's event, going down the 500m in 1:28.498 to secure a semi-final place.
Haydn Cooke-Bayley (Nottingham), Sam Cribbett (Royal Leamington Spa), Gabriel Coveley (Nottingham) and Tom Holland (Wey) combined as they finished fifth in the K4M U23 500m heats. Their time of 1:26.156 will see them contest the semi-finals.
Elise Montagna (Royal), Jessie Urquhart (Nottingham), Amy Green (Worcester) and Katie Pocklington (Nottingham) rounded off the day one action for the British team, finishing fourth in the U23 K4W 500m heats to take on Saturday's semi-finals.
Owen Chisholm (Richmond) unfortunately didn't progress from the junior C1 men's 1000m heats after being given a DSQ.
