Bedford River Festival 2024 SUP FUN and Pro Races
Bedford River Festival is the 3rd largest outdoor event in Europe with over 300,000 people attending. It has been running for over 40 years celebrating Britain’s 4th largest river.
Join us for fun and games on stand up paddle boards (SUP’s) with our SUP Fun Race (1 lap) and SUP Pro Race (3 laps) followed by a SUP Skills fun and games session in the watersports arena with prizes and tuition. Race starts at 5.30pm by the Suspension Bridge. £10 entry with additional board hire as required first come first served.

Activities for all the family at the Watersports Arena and Adventure Village
You can also pay to play during the festival and take to the water with our canoes, double kayaks, duckies rafts, SUP’s and even zorbs available on both days. At the Adventure Village upstream at St Marys Gardens we have axe throwing, our mobile climbing wall and bushcraft activities.
Logistics and Plans for the River Festival Races
The races both start at 5.30pm from the Suspension Bridge
Meet at the adjacent Watersports Arena for registration at 4.45pm
The Races
The SUP Fun race is a 2km course up along Bedford’s stunning Victorian Embankment, under the town bridge and up to the Riverside North complex to round a buoy.
The SUP Pro Race is 3 laps of the 2km course within the time period.
The Big Float out
Following the race the competitors can join us in the watersports arena by the Butterfly Bridge for the big float with fun and games, a record attempt for the SUP snake, SUP Jenga games and SUP freestyle skills with spot prizes and music to create a relaxed paddling vibe.
