White Rose Canoe Club, in Leeds, will host this year's Big Paddle Cleanup flagship event.
ERDINGER Alkoholfrei will support their cleanup by providing refreshments and goodies for their volunteers, on 1 June 2024.
Last year they spent the day with the Friends of Allonby, at Albert Docks, in Liverpool.
Many clubs, community groups and individuals have signed up for two weeks of action to clean up our waterways.
Dean Jordan, from the club, said:
“White Rose Canoe Club and our greater paddling community, are always looking at ways we can help support the blue spaces.
“One of the ways is with our regular paddle cleanups. This keeps the waterways we use clean and safe for all, not just us as paddlers but also for the wildlife.
“We use the paddle cleanups as a way to teach our younger members about the importance of keeping the waterways and their environment clean.”
ERDINGER Country Manager, Peter Gowans said:
“We are delighted to support the Big Paddle Cleanup with a flagship event at the White Rose Canoe Club.
“We are looking forward to a day on the River Aire with members and volunteers.”
The Big Paddle Cleanup is returning between 25 May and 9 June to continue our mission to improve precious blue places.
In 2023, over 2,600 paddlers took part in a bid to clear their local waterways of junk and plastic pollution, while raising more public awareness of the issue.
About 1,800 huge sacks were filled containing 6,767 plastic bottles, 2,739 glass bottles, 4,403 cans and 7,682 food packaging items.
