Ryan Westley competes in the C1 event and has enjoyed an extremely successful career, winning the European Championship and European Games titles in 2018 and 2023 respectively.
He claimed his first World Championship medal with bronze in 2015 before upgrading to silver three years later. Alongside his individual successes, he has three World Championships medals in the C1 team event, two silver and one bronze.
Westley's gold at the European Games in 2023, marked a significant moment in his career having been ruled out of international action for nearly two years with a serious shoulder injury.
Also a European under-23 champion from 2016, Westley completed two years of a Sports Science and Management degree at Nottingham Trent University before moving down to Lee Valley to train full-time.
