Phoebe Spicer is proof of the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, having started her canoeing journey at the Lee Valley White Water Centre in 2013.
In a full-circle moment, Spicer made her senior World Championship debut at the London 2012 venue in 2023, winning bronze in the women's kayak team event and placing 17th overall individually in the K1.
It was that 17th-place finish from Spicer that qualified the British team's quota spot in the K1 event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Also in 2023, at the World Under-23 Championships in Krakow, Spicer finished an agonising fourth individually in the C1 and won kayak team gold with Lois Leaver and Ellis Miller.
Her success was set up as early as 2018 when Spicer placed fourth in both the under-23 C1 team event and junior K1 team event at the age-group World Championships in Italy.
