Emma Russell has enjoyed a strong period on the international stage, playing an impressive part in the British women’s K4 500m featuring in five consecutive A finals between 2022 and 2023.
She was also part of the Team GB K4 500m crew for the 2023 European Games in Krakow, competing alongside Rebii Simon, Deborah Kerr and Emily Lewis and finishing eighth.
Russell formed a partnership with Kerr during the 2022 season as the pair powered to fifth in the K2 500m at the World Championships in Canada.
She earned selection for the World Class Programme for the first time in 2019, ten years after she started paddling.
Russell is a member of Chelmsford Canoe Club and her best result prior to 2019 was K1 500m bronze at the World Junior Championships in Bulgaria. At the same event she also finished a close fourth place in the K1 1000m.
