Never taken your kayak in the sea? Curious about waveskis? Unsure about the ocean? Want to meet other keen paddlers? Fancy trying a new discipline with the help of top coaches?
Wherever you are up to with surf kayaking or waveski paddling, there will be sessions tailored for you – with patient and experienced coaches keen to help you progress.
More importantly, this is an opportunity to meet like-minded paddlers, spend some time in the ocean, and get a taste for the waves!
Prerequisites:
- Some previous experience kayaking and basic boat handling skills will be needed, this can be on flat water or in any other type of paddlecraft.
- Being comfortable wading/swimming at the beach is essential.
What should I bring?
If you have your own Sit-on-top, closed-cockpit general purpose kayak, or surf-specific craft, please do bring that along. If you can borrow an older style playboat, they work really well too. You’ll need a paddle, buoyancy aid, and a helmet too.
There will be a variety of demo craft, including wave skis, sit-on-tops, and composite skis for the more experienced.
What should I wear?
Wetsuits, drysuits, or neoprene leggings with a cag all work well in the UK in October. Wetsuit booties or old plimpsols are needed in surf kayaks to protect your feet.
