Event Description

What is it:

A fun 10 week programme of taster days to immerse yourself in a new sport,  learn new paddling skills, and develop an understanding of paracanoe. A BBQ and competition will be held during the 10 weeks to celebrate the programme and all those who have taken part. There will also be a chance to meet some of the best para-canoeists in the world, following their return from this summer’s Paralympic Games.

The aim of the programme is to raise awareness of our fantastic sport and to support the recruitment of new paracanoe athletes.  We’ll provide a fun, engaging opportunity to learn paddling skills which will equip you on your paddling journey.

Be quick as we have a limit. Once we are at capacity we will notify you and we will create a waiting list and find a suitable date to run a follow up opportunity.

For those who complete the course, we will continue to either coach you at Nottingham or we will introduce you to your nearest club.

What do sessions involve?

Participants will be coached in our recreational kayaks by our professional Paddle UK coaches together with some of our athletes. Over the course of weeks you will learn how to balance a kayak, how to capsize and get out safely.  We will teach you how to paddle using a variety of skills which will enable you to take part in a fun competition at the end of the course.

What to wear:

Bring a full change of clothing, baselayers, shorts and / or shorty wetsuit. Wet suit shoes or shoes you don’t mind getting wet.

A cap or hat if it’s sunny and don’t forget to bring a drink.  We will do our best to book the weather…..

When is it:

Every Tuesday from 13th August 1730 – 1930 until 15th October 2024 17:30 – 19:30
