Paddle UK members can use the toilets, showers and parking at Halton Mill with permission and via prior arrangement.

Paddlers wishing to make use of the facilities must complete an application form for a key fob and parking pass. There is a one off payment of £10 for a fob.

Halton Mill is a low carbon workspace with a community feel, managed on a non-profit basis by Green Elephant Cooperative Limited, which leases the premises from Lancaster Cohousing.

Paddle UK is pleased to have had a long relationship with Halton Mill, to enable paddlers to enjoy the river.

On receipt of the appropriate deposit, a key fob will be supplied for use of the showers and toilets on the ground floor at the west end of the Mill.

The Mill is a working environment used by many different individuals and groups throughout the week and at weekends. Paddlers are asked to respect other users and remember that some may be working when you are enjoying yourselves.

The external doors to the Mill must be locked after 5.30pm and at weekends. All vehicles and property are left on site at the owner's risk, whether inside or outside the Mill building: Neither Lancaster Cohousing, Green Elephant nor Paddle UK can be held responsible for any loss or damage.

Paddle UK is committed to protecting the environment, particularly when it comes to tackling Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS).

As a paddler, you may come in contact with these harmful species when moving between different watercourses with your craft. Because of this, you have a vital part to play in stopping the spread of damaging plant and animal species by following the Check, Clean, Dry Steps:

• CHECK Check your craft, equipment and clothing for living organisms. Remove anything you find and leave it at the site.
• CLEAN Clean everything thoroughly as soon as you can, paying attention to the inside of your craft and areas that are damp and hard to access. Use hot water if possible.
• DRY Drain water from every part of your craft and dry with a sponge or towel before leaving the site. Dry everything thoroughly for as long as possible. Some invasive plants and animals can survive for two weeks in damp conditions.
